At Custom Performance Roofing, we understand many people dread having to replace their roof. A roof replacement is a major expense, so it’s understandable to want to put that off, but this service is also necessary. If your roof needs to be replaced, it is much safer to take care of it sooner rather than later. In this article, we will go over three signs it’s time to replace your roof.
- Age – One way to know if it’s time for a roof replacement is simply to check your roof’s age. If it’s approaching 25 years old (or is already older), we encourage you to get the roof replaced. We also recommend paying attention to when other homes in your neighborhood get new roofs, as the houses in an area are usually built around the same time and would therefore need to replace their roofs on a similar timeline.
- Damaged Shingles – Another way to tell if you need a roof replacement is to inspect your roof for damaged or missing shingles. If the shingles are cracked or starting to curl at the edges, then they aren’t providing adequate protection and should be replaced. In some cases, it is possible to replace only the damaged shingles, but if there are too many such shingles, then the whole roof should be replaced.
- Sagging – A third way to tell if you need a roof replacement is to check your roof for signs of sagging. If your roof deck no longer appears to be level and straight but sinks down at any point, then you should call us right away.
